Morrisons supermarket fined thousands after youth slips at work
Supermarket chain Morrisons has been fined £17,756.85 after a 17-year-old employee was injured at one of its stores. The youth suffered serious spinal injuries in the supermarket accident when he slipped whilst pulling a loaded pallet truck at its store in Caerphilly.
Abertillery Magistrates Court heard that the company had not undertaken a risk assessment for the 17-year-old, and had failed to maintain dock leveller gates.
The company pleaded guilty to three offences under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 in that it failed to provide appropriate training, instruction and supervision.
